Can Art Save the World?

Tapestry Art

Reprinted from Sustainability-Times As diverse sustainability advocates strive to save the planet, a group of actors stands out from the crowd in its approach to the challenge. And the potential of visions and solutions this group offers may be no less transformative than the purely science-driven or policy-based methods we are well used to. Here come sustainability artists and art-science innovators, trespassing the boundaries of the possible. Artistic communities have been exploring human-nature interactions since the dawn of mankind, yet rapid environmental change has sparked a renewed interest in the issue. East Meets West Exhibit

The East Meets West Exhibit at the Grandview Gallery in Atlanta is on exhibit now, with the first round of floral arrangements by Ikebana International on display. My painting is pictured below with its corresponding floral interpretation. It was an honor for my painting to be chosen for this show. The Ikebana artist who did the arrangement inspired by my painting is Noriko Rajagopalan. Because the fresh floral elements in the Ikebana arrangements will not last for the entire time of the art exhibit, they are having two rounds of arrangements lasting 6 days each. So if you want to see […]

Juried Watercolor Exhibit

[et_pb_section bb_built=”1″][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.17.2″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text] The amazingly-named Sautee Nacoochee cultural center is hosting the Georgia Watercolor Society juried member show, now through November 18th. The juror was the abstract watercolor artist Carol Frye. She gave members a demonstration of her techniques before the reception that was on October 14th at the center. Sautee Nacoochee is about 4 miles south of Helen (windmill pictured above), that interesting and strange little alpine-themed city in north Georgia that tourists love. Below are some photos from the artist demo and the art exhibit.
